I haven't blogged for a while, so why not get back on track with some negative news! At least I cant be accused of only blogging when I am winning (like some horse we know...just kidding!)...
I managed to drop $736 in 4 hours of $1-$2 play tonight.
Upon reflection of the session I am pleased with my overall performance, though I did play 2 (possibly 3) hands poorly (I think).
It may sound odd making a statement like that after booking in such a heavy loss, but the reality is I really did not do much wrong, and in fact I am proud of the manner in which I conducted myself throughout the session.
The session got off to a pretty bad start with the following hand...
The pot was opened in early (ish) position to $7 by some French fish, and a loose passive American fish called before the action folded around to me on the button.
With 10 7 off I decided to raise to $27, with the intention of isolating the original raiser, and taking the pot away from him post flop.
I don't quite feel like discussing the difference between "iso-raise" squeezing, and the standard "steal" squeezing, and the components involved in successfully executing them (also the various arguments against these plays), but what I would say is that the conditions were perfect to make this play in this spot (in my creative mind at least!).
So anyway, to plan the original opener called me, and we saw the flop heads up.
The flop came down 7 7 K (rainbow). The French dude checked to me. I bet $32, hoping to induce a raise from a Kx hand or pairs JJ and worse possibly.
He did indeed check raise me up to $80 (pretty much committing himself to the hand), I shipped for $140ish total, and the guy reluctantly called tabling KJ.
Can the dealer fade a 2 outer for me? No! Turn...K!
I get the table tap, and "...I am sooo sorry..." speech. Insta-tilt ingredients! But oddly enough, I didn't even feel a tad tilted, I just smiled and genuinely and sincerely said "...nice hand..."! Wow!
So I re load, in for $400 now.
I make a loose turn and river call on a board of K10Q88 (flush completes on the river), after opening pre flop with Q9, when in fact I actually beat nothing by the river.
Then I call a granite's cut off raise of $15 on the button with 55 (for set value), the Dutch cunt in the small blind who is convinced he is Durrrrr squeezes to $45, I call along with the original raiser. The board runs out J77Q8, and is checked down all the way, the Dutch cunt tables A8 to beat the cut off's AK.
I could and should of bet either the flop or the turn once it was checked to me. Yeah sure I could say, if I was running half decent I could of faded the river, but if only I took a proactive line (as opposed to hoping I fade or hit my set) I would of won a nice pot. Ahh!
At this point I decided to get a table change, and spotted a deep and lively game.
First hand off the bat, I double up the table donkey. This guy was the reason the game was so chipped up, apparently he was in for like $3k! Good thing I came along to get him out of it eh?
I open to $11 in the cut off with K10 off (with one limper to my right), this donkey is on the button and insta-min. raises me to $22.
I call and we see a K42 (two spade) flop heads up. I check, he bets $24, I shove for $150ish. He snaps with QJ suited (spades). I have the King of spades so this guy only has 8 outs!
Fade one time? No...he binks his spade on the turn.
The table is obviously delighted that the donkey is chipped up, I would be too but two young geeks actually cross the line, shouting and "high five"ing each other and the donkey when the spade hits.
Again I would usually at this point be willing to fight these cunts, but I just smile, and answer "...yes the flop was indeed good for you...and yes you did have to go with the hand...", upon the donkey's pleads for acknowledgement about his monster draw!
I lose another pot which I think could of been avoided, and one I will put under the "...I played bad category...".
Some guy (one of the "high five"ing geeks) raises the action to $20 after two limpers, with 1 cold call behind him, I call with JJ, and knowing the table donkey behind me (who limped in) will call like 100% of the time here with any 2 cards!
The flop runs out 8 high, I decide to lead / fold. So I bet $60. The action folds to the geek, who somehow goes to raise but fucks it up, and is only allowed to call.
We see a turn card of 6 heads up, and I check fold the 8 high board.
I should of check folded the flop. Meh. He has KK or AA like 99.9% of the time here.
All of a sudden I am in for $900! Doing my money hard, down about $600.
I am served the icing on the cake, when I flat the table donkey's early position open of $8, on the button with KQ suited (spades). I should of iso-raised here for sure! Mistake!
The short stack small blind also completes, and we see a flop of 925 (two spades) three way.
The small blind checks, the donkey bets $10, I flat the $10 (for a number of reasons which I cant be bothered to discuss right now), the short stack shoves for $98 more.
I snap. He tables 94 suited (spades). So even versus his top pair (and ineffective flush draw), I have 7 outs for the flush, and 6 outs with my overcards, mmmm can I hit my 13 outer (52% of the time I should)?
Hell no! Yigit ships again. Then the guy is like, ohhhh I wasn't after you, I didn't want your money, bla bla bla. Fucking idiot.
At that point, I had enough, and picked up.
So I was disappointed at playing a few hands badly, and also breaking my stop loss of $600, but all in all, not a bad performance considering everything.
End of post.
